To help you get the most from your training sessions, we have put together a few tips to help you

Training Wear - For Handlers

Make sure you are totally comfortable when training.

Try to wear flat shoes both for your comfort and your puppy/dog's safety.

It also helps if you wear something with easily accessible pockets for those all important treats.

What to bring to class

TREATS - Keep them small and make sure they are the tastiest ones around. Chopped cooked sausages, cubed cheese and cooked liver seem to be the most popular!

TOYS - If you prefer to use a toy for training, it should be kept specifically for that purpose.  Make the toy seem special and put it away, out of reach when not training.  Remember that this toy should be treated as something for you and your dog to share.  Get used to playing with your dog; it is a good way of bonding with them.

Training Wear – For Dogs

COLLARS - A leather or nylon collar is best.  Combi or Half check collars are also useful, but choke chains are best avoided.  For safety, the collar should be fitted correctly, please ask if you are unsure.

LEADS – Again leather, nylon or rope leads are best.  Avoid using leads with chains, as you may experience discomfort if your dog pulls.
